"Check Out" This Meeting to Plan a Tool Lending Library

If you are interested in the idea of "checking out" tools or resources - large and small (from pressure washers to canning equipment), please join us for a Tool Lending Library organizing meeting from 6:00 to 7:30 PM on Wednesday, November 19 at Federal Way City Hall, 33325 8th Ave S, Federal Way, WA 98003. Individuals and organizations are invited to discuss starting a Tool Library in the South Sound area.  Here's your chance to "get in on the ground floor" and help "raise the roof" needed for a Tool Lending Library to thrive in our area.

A Tool Library is like a regular library, but with tools and equipment instead of books and magazines. Tool libraries allow people to borrow tools they rarely use, rather than buying items that take up storage space. A Tool Library can literally help build community by inspiring home improvements for all income levels.

The founder of a Seattle neighborhood Tool Library will help us to explore possibilities that fit our community. We'll cover issues like liability, location, staffing, funding, member options, sourcing new tools and tracking lent tools. Start-up grant funding from Zero Waste Washington will help "construct" this project. But the resource needed most is people who want to invest in our community and help to design and run a Tool Library.

Hope to see you there!
Jeanette
