National Coalition for Literacy Discussion List
View all threadsHello NCL colleagues,
I hope you're all getting ready for a relaxing holiday weekend. I wanted to
throw a question out to the group in case anyone has thoughts.
Do you know of any examples of adult-education students being eligible for
a campus ID (aka student ID) for their local community college?
I've heard about it occasionally (e.g., Austin Community College in Texas
http://sites.austincc.edu/aestudent/ged/ offers one) but I don't know how
widespread it is, or if there are states that have it as an actual written
policy.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have--
-Amanda

The two Miami Dade Colleges that we spoke with for the IES grant offer adult students campus ID (Hialeah and North campuses). They thought it was essential in helping students feel like part of the community.

Hello All,
We give our students here in our program picture ID’s as well. It does help to promote that sense of belonging to our school community.
