We spent the morning at Hammonasset SP in Madison today.  The most notable observation was that there were numerous gulls (mostly Ring-billed) plankton feeding on the surface of the LI Sound near the shore.  Seems a bit early for this phenomenon, but it will probably begin in earnest when the weather gets warmer after Saturday.  There were lots of other early signs of spring.  Notable species observations included a Razorbill and two Black Scoter off the end of the Moraine Trail, 4 Killdeer near the beginning of the Willards Island trail and the continuing over-wintering Great Egret in the boulder pond.
