Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours
Official Counter: Dave Brown
Observers: Chris Burris, Keith Sealy, Ken Wootton, Mac McAlpine,
Matt Oswald
Visitors:
A few visitors today and a good group of counters and observers helped with
todays lighter than expected count. Thanks to everyone that was there.
Weather:
Winds were great to start the day though a bit WSW but fairly strong right
off the bat before swinging to straight SW and even stronger for much of
the day before backing a bit again to WSW and dying down late in the
afternoon. No clouds at all today and high pressure still holding over the
entire region. Temps warmer today to a high of 19C.
Raptor Observations:
Well, we had hoped for Peregrines today and did get a few but nowhere near
what we expected for numbers given the prime timeframe for their typical
migration dates and the strong SW winds up the cliff. We ended with just 5
Peregrines along with a few Merlins, Am Kestrels and N Harriers (of which a
handful were males).
Non-raptor Observations:
Although raptors were scarce, the passerines were... interesting! We had
two apparent male Brewer's Blackbirds in a scope as they perched briefly
atop a snag, along with an apparent Band-tailed Pigeon in hard E-to-W
flight above the cliff edge at 954am. Details in this eBird report:

Predictions:
The forecast is for a windy (from the S) and unsettled day on Wednesday so
I wouldn't expect much of a flight. The next possibly decent flight day
may be Friday with more SW winds.
