Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsYes, winter is near, soon it will be time to start wearing socks. I'd
like to share some photos with you:
http://www.tug44.org/iceboat1.jpg - Tug 44 makes her last voyage on the
now frozen Champlain Canal. With snow piled up on the front deck and more
snow hanging down the top of the windshield, we pull out of the dock into
the channel. The ice is about an inch thick, and covered with a bit of
water. Cracking thru the ice is slightly un-nerving. After a short spin,
my destination is the shoals on the far right of the docks, where I will
beach her.
http://www.tug44.org/iceboat2.jpg - A few days later: The canal has
been drained, and it has snowed again. Tug 44 lays on the bottom for the
winter. She is perfectly located so I can see her from my couch. Life is
good.
http://www.tug44.org/anvilsnow.jpg - A few days after that, another
snowfall, we are getting them twice a week now. That is Fort Edward's
Anvil Inn restaurant a block from my house. This snowfall was wet snow
which then froze solid in the trees.
http://www.tug44.org/mcintyre.jpg - The same day, the view driving up
McIntyre Street in Fort Edward village.
http://www.tug44.org/xmas.jpg - And then a little celebration at the
Fort Edward Yacht Basin! And yes of course there is a Santa Claus!
Have a Merry Christmas everybody!!!!!
