Hello!

As you may be aware, Barefoot Collective will be producing a Dance Film
Showcase in October 2020.  If you follow us on facebook, you may have seen
our recent post about Emily Pickney and her upcoming work.  She is still
looking for dancers to participate in her film.  Please see the details
below.

“Working Title: We're Drowning or We don't feel safe outside?” by  Emily
Pinckney

Seeking 5-7 dancers

From the Choreographer

“This film will comment on the plight of black folks (womxn specifically)
and our broken tether from the earth.  Our relationship to the earth has
been obstructed by white supremacy that dates back to the trauma absorbed
from slavery.  Environmental racism is the main driver of climate change.
Racism is a horror story and I plan to  present that with this piece.

I am specifically seeking Black womxn for this piece. Over the spectrum of
melanin and from a diversity of ethnic groups, we are not colorist here.
I, myself, am a multiracial black womxn.  Accepting all womxn, including
those with queer intersections.”

Dancers will rehearse 2 hours twice a week Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm and
Friday mornings at 10am with some flexibility depending on dancer
schedules.  Rehearsals will take place outdoors in Tacoma and filming will
take place in various locations around the city including Thea’s Landing,
Hidden Beach, and Owen’s Beach.

Dancers should have access to Zoom.  The choreographer will provide
assistance with accessing Zoom if needed.

If interested please send a photo and a 1 minute audition via email. This
video can showcase any movement genre/modality.  ACCEPTING ALL BODY SHAPES
AND SIZES.
