The 16th annual IN THE SPIRIT Arts Market & Northwest Native Festival will be held in person on Saturday, August 7 at the Washington State History Museum, Museum of Glass, and Tacoma Art Museum.
The all-day festival is FREE for visitors, and a favorite summertime tradition in the South Puget Sound area!
We're inviting artist vendors to participate in-person or online, or both.
This year's vendor application is available onlinehttps://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ITSVendor2021. Applications are due July 5.
The application cannot be saved and returned to later, but it should only take about 15 minutes to complete.
You will need the following to apply:
- General contact information
- Three images of the type of work you plan to sell (these images will be used to select vendors and will be used to represent you on the marketplace website)
- Short statements responding to the following prompts:
* In 3-7 sentences, please describe your art and/or the artistic practices and traditions from your tribe or nation.
* Who or what has most influenced your work?
- Links prepared to your point of sale (website, social media, etc.), and your social media pages
* Attached you will find a document further explaining what we mean by "point of sale" site
- Headshot image for promotional purposes
Low participation fees:
- Virtual arts market vendor only ($20 upon acceptance)
- Virtual and in-person arts market vendor on August 7 ($50 upon acceptance)
- In-person arts market only on August 7 ($50 upon acceptance)
The IN THE SPIRIT Advisory Committee will review applications and select artist vendors. Selected vendors will be notified and will need to sign a contract with Washington State Historical Society, Museum of Glass, or Tacoma Art Museum (depending on identified location) and pay the participation fee.
Artist vendors will receive the following for their participation:
- Feature in an individual social media post by museums
- Inclusion in additional promotional materials created by museums to promote in-person and Virtual Arts Market
- If participating in person: Identifying and descriptive signage, one table, two chairs, tablecloth, and 10'x10' tent if outdoors

July 5: Applications due
July 16: Vendors notified of acceptance, receive contracts and payment information
July 26: Contracts and payments are due
July 30: IN THE SPIRIT Virtual Arts Market website goes live
July 30 - September 6: IN THE SPIRIT Virtual Arts Market remains open and accompanied by additional virtual programming
August 7: IN THE SPIRIT Arts Market & Northwest Native Festival will be held 10am-5pm at Museum of Glass, Tacoma Art Museum, and the Washington State History Museum in downtown Tacoma, free to the public
