Ontario Rare Bird Alert for the week starting September 30, 2022

Species mentioned (all caps indicate species on the OBRC review list):
American Avocet (Chatham-Kent): Steve Charbonneau photographed one on the
dog beach at Rondeau Provincial Park on October 6.

Piping Plover (Essex): The unbanded juvenile at the tip of Point Pelee
found September 23 remained to at least October 6.

Marbled Godwit (Norfolk): LPBO personnel reported two at the tip of Long
Point on October 4.

Willet (Norfolk): Richard Skevington and Neil Faulkenham reported a flock
of eight from Big Creek NWA on October 6.

Long-tailed Jaeger (Hamilton): A single bird was reported from Van Wagners
Beach by various observers on both October 1 and 2.

Black-legged Kittiwake (Hamilton): Reports from Van Wagners Beach this week
included highs of three on September 30, two on October 1, and seven on
October 2.
Black-legged Kittiwake (Waterloo): Brett Fried photographed one at the
confluence of the Grand and Speed Rivers in Cambridge on October 6.

Sabine's Gull (Halton): George Prieksaitis reported one off Burloak Park on
October 6.

Pacific Loon (Simcoe): Up to two birds were reported all week from the
Barrie waterfront, primarily from Tyndale Park.

NEOTROPIC CORMORANT (Toronto): After a bit of an absence a/the Neotropic
Cormorant was back at Marilyn Bell Park on September 30 and October 1.

YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON (Toronto): The juvenile bird found September 1
by Marsha Duggan remained all week, seen by many.

Glossy Ibis (Durham): The two birds found September 25 remained at Corner
Marsh in Ajax to September 30.

Black Vulture (Niagara): Up to six birds were reported this week from the
Queenston area.
Black Vulture (Toronto): Graha Nord reported one over Mt Pleasant Cemetery
on October 2.

TROPICAL KINGBIRD (Ottawa): Chris Allen photographed one at Richmond CA on
October 2 which was not subsequently refound.

Townsend's Solitaire (Kenora): Brian Ratcliff reported one near Red Lake on
October 6.

Dickcissel (Chatham-Kent): Steve Charbonneau photographed one at Keith
McLean CA on October 5.
Dickcissel (Peel): One bird was reported with a flock of House Sparrows at
Professor's Lake in Brampton.
