boat broker

My own limited experience with brokers has not been good. They will
optimize their time value by pushing the most expensive boats.  If your
boat is not at the high end don't expect a broker to be spending much
effort on showing it. If someone walks in the door and specifies that
he/she wants a boat like yours, for sure the broker will show it. However,
if a person is looking for a less specific vessel the broker will show the
most expensive boats first.

I once listed my very nice sailboat with a broker. After 1.5 years he had
not shown it even once. I ran an ad in the local magazine, showed it 14
times in one month and received a full price offer.  So I suggest that if
you list it with a broker you reserve the right to sell it your self and
then advertise in all the on- line sites.  Further, maintain the boat and
keep it sparkling clean while it is for sale. Many people start by listing
their vessels for too high a price and as the months go by the vessel
cosmetically deteriorates as the price is dropped.

Good luck.
