Boy, do I agree with Alan's estimate about the probable
"fun factor."
Probable fairly light weight, supposedly great ride of
a catamaran, super strength, and super performance and
should be fairly reasonable on fuel operating costs!!!
The current "Passage Maker" magazine has an article about
Dashew's "Unsailboat" done in aluminum and made for SERIOUS
ocean travels. It is all aluminum and non-painted for ease
(or lack) of maintenance.
As owner of a SMALL jetboat, I can attest that they are lots
of fun, even though the small (14.5') LOA on mine makes for
a rough ride with waves of 1 foot or more. Maneuverable,
fast, fun; such a deal!
I would bet that a 340C in "yacht" trim for the interior
would make an great cruiser for coastal use at minimum.
Depending upon cost, I would certainly consider such a vessel.

The current (December) issue of WorkBoat Magazine has a
flattering article about the Moose Boats 340C, on page 83.
The editors featured Moose in their "Significant Boats of
2005" story. Reportedly the company started in 2000,
targeting the recreational market, but the U.S. Navy is now
their biggest customer. The company won a 2002 Industrial
Design Excellence Silver Award from BusinessWeek and the
Industrial Designers Society of America -- for what that's
worth.
These are impressive, functional-looking vessels. As for
the budget question, their website doesn't offer pricing
("call us"). I agree that nothing here suggests they are
low-cost. They sure look like a barrel of fun, though.
