Pogo Bob,

Sadly, I have to buy a canal pass just like everybody else.  ( Though Canal
Corp management has been known to crew for me )  And for my mud berth
winter storage, I also got a permit, though it cost about 1/4 what a marina
would have hit me with.

I have been known to get some special courtesies though.  recently John
Callaghan, Deputy Director, took me on a photo op thru the Waterford
Drydocks recently, where i got 150 wonderful pictures of the bottoms of the
canal tugs and props etc.  Followed by a visit to McGreivey's in Waterford,
a rather good restaurant near the pier.

And now I gotta go take my first cruise of the season.  Life is good.

Seeya this summer, Bob!

You need a canal pass?  I figured you just greased the lockmasters' palms
with some of that wine you and Bill confiscate from the unsuspecting
Canadians at Waterford ;^).

Seriously, congratulations on having water under the keel again.
Tug44looks very happy in her berth.

Trish and I look forward to seeing your smiling face in July!

<snip> *Every now and then I get it right. Just like that broken clock on the wall. Actually they had the canal running back in November. All locks were working then already and they opened for a week or so to let stuck boats in and out.

Some of the locks on the eastern Erie Canal may look a bit nasty, but* *
they'll be prettied up shortly.

Just got my engine started, fresh water filled, etc etc.  All is well,* *
except the fresh water pump is not feeling so well.  No big deal, takes
about 10 minutes to change it out.

Now what the heck did I do with my canal pass?* *
