Greetings Colleagues,

Del Hornbuckle, Executive Director of University Libraries, Howard University (DC), forwards the following survey for HBCU library leaders. Share broadly with your network.

LaTasha

Dear Fellow Library Directors and Deans:

Hello, again, to many of you that I met at the HBCU Library Alliance 10th Membership Meeting hosted by Southern University and A&M College last year, so this is an opportunity for me to connect with many of you I haven't met.

I am participating in the inaugural History of Black Librarianship Series (and class), which is the vision of Dr. Nicole A. Cooke, the Augusta Baker Endowed Chair and associate professor at the School of Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Cooke is also teaching the course (see attached image).

During the discussion, I will focus on my experiences leading an HBCU library for the last two years, and I have gathered key statistics from the Center for HBCU Research, Leadership, and Policy here at Howard University. Additionally, I am seeking more qualitative data, so I welcome your insights on academic librarianship as it relates to HBCU libraries.

So please, if you have a moment, complete a brief survey so that I have an opportunity to share your perspective on leadership and leading an HBCU library. The deadline is June 9th but the sooner the better and I am more than happy to share the survey results after my presentation.
