Anyway getting back to the purpose of this e-mail, there was
also a fellow on board that documented the whole trip on film, 93,000
feet of it to be exact. This summer when I was trying to find out if
that film was available I stumbled across an American Film Institute web
site that actually listed the film.
You might want to get in touch with John Tirohn, grandson of Jack
Lewis who was chief engineer for the entire circumnavigation and
captain for part of it. He's also on the hunt for the film as
outlined in his email to me a couple of weeks ago:
My name is John Tirohn and Jack Lewis was my grandfather. His
daughter, my mother is currently putting back together a scrap book
compiled by his sister during the voyage. We have a lot of 'paper'
history, a gold watch be received after the trip and of course the
book. I understand there was a movie made during the trip and have
even located it in a film archive. I can't get anyone to answer my
inquiries about its availability and was hoping you could help. I
would also be willing to aid your research if I can be of help. We
do have the Speejacks bell though I think it came from an earlier
ship as it is dated 1915.
