Fort Edward Channel

I had two calls for towing grounded boats just this week, both of them in
the channel leading to the Fort Edward Yacht Basin.  I reported it to the
Canal Corp and got the answer back already.

They will be sounding the depth this week and determining placement for
additional buoys.

Until then, stay on the west side between the lock and the bridges, and
then in the basin itself you stay near the pier.

In the basin, avoid the area in front of the sheet pile (corrugated steel)
wall across from the pier, there is a shoal there that runs half way
across.

As it is, the Yacht Basin channel has a minimum depth of about 6  1/2 feet
at the bridges so if you draw 6 feet or less, you are fine.  Just follow
the above instructions.

Of course someone already suggested I should move the new buoys around so
as to get work for my towing service, but I will try to fight the urge.

What is the ransom you demand for towing? Do you rob their wine cabinet?
