Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsIt would be nice to have some boaters report in if they are on the list.
Where are you all communicating. On the AGLCA list ?
How about eboatcards

We started the GL last September from Lake MI, and are currently in the

Adagio is "looping." We left Traverse City MI late August 2011. Currently
we are in Whitehall NY, at the bottom of Lake Champlain.
Whitehall had their 4th of July fireworks tonight - some local tradition.
Most of our communicating is on the AGLCA forum, but we started using eBoat
cards and this list as well. The AGLCA forum has been the most active.

We're in georgian bay. Entered a week ago today from port severn. Comm is too difficult and expensive here most of the time unless find an unsecured wifi (less and less often) or our infrequent stays in a marina with wifi, so we don't send much email just to let someone who might possibly be interested know where we are. Friends and interested boaters follow our blog which we update whenever we get WiFi.

When we cruised Georgian Bay and North Channel, I was constantly scanning
with our Island Time PC high gain WiFi antenna. Many times I found an open
wifi while cruising and would catch Internet capability for 10 min or so but
just enough to send/receive some email.

Hi Greg & Others,
We (Fet-Esch) are still looping. We left Houston, TX in May 2005 and are
Looping backwards - very slowly. We are currently in St. Simons Island, GA
until the end of hurricane season. We will close the Loop for the Admiral
(Cyndi) when we clear Fort Myers and for the Captain (John) when we clear
Mobile Bay. We communicate via this list (GL), MTOA & T&T. I get the Great
Loop list but am not an active contributor. It seems complex to me.
I have started looking at eBoat cards but have not felt any additional
help sofar other than having friends on a " boat address" book. Perhaps this
benefit will come with time.
