I'd love to second this and particularly encourage people to think about the Excellence in the Reporting of Social Issues Award. I serve on that committee and am happy to help people who might be thinking of putting in a nomination for a journalist/documentarian for this. The committee is very interested in seeing an expansion of high quality nominations.

Hi all,
I just want to make it clear that these nominations need to be formally submitted to the Award Committee for the Excellence on Reporting of Social Issues Award. Based on my work with the committee, successful nominations are those that clearly demonstrate how a non-sociologist is engaging with sociological research, reporting or highlighting the work of sociologists, and provides evidence of that work through clips, or other work. Having multiple letters or signatories to the nominating letter is helpful. Just reporting on issues of interest to sociologists is not enough to secure a place among finalists.
I don't think that we as CITASA should attempt to put forward a "section" nominated award but I think that if several of you (I'm recused because of serving on the committee) want to put together nominations that would be fantastic. I'm happy to give feedback on individual nominations regarding the committee needs to make its decision.
Glad this is generating attention!
Best,
Gina
