Welcome Ceremony presided over by Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland; Center
for Urban Waters Director Joel Baker, Ph.D.; Department of Ecology Site
Director Marv Coleman; "Marina of the Year" General Manager Craig Perry and
others will highlight Tacoma's waterfront Superfund Cleanup story and how
our daily actions affect "clean water" for future generations.

New in 2010! Announcing - the "Clean, Green Boating Scholarship" Essay
Contest for all Fife, Franklin Pierce, Peninsula, Puyallup, Tacoma, and
University Place Public, Private, and Home School District high school
students! The winning essay will help a local high school group experience
a 3-day, 2-night marine science expedition on Puget Sound. The scholarship
is designed to deepen respect for Puget Sound's delicate marine ecosystem
and inspire leadership in addressing threats to our waterways. Essay contest
winner and scholarship will be awarded at the Festival Welcome Ceremony. See
