Hi all,

Maybe the FT-818 will be released at Dayton this year? Or is this fake news?
FCC testing: https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=t5blC6hGG2ySHrjBO807Kg%3D%3D&fcc_id=K6603770X30

It’s apparently thought to be a successor to the Yaesu FT-817:

Joe, the FCC does not post fake reports. However just because it is
certified does not mean it will ever be released to the market. I did not
look at the FCC page, but it will include manuals, pictures, etc. That is
unless Yaesu asked it be restricted for a short period of time. From the
FCC data one should be able to guess what the intent is.

Evidently people have been talking about the FT-818 for several years. I
can't think of a whole lot to improve on the FT-817 except perhaps a way to
mount it. The FT-817 is lacking in that area unless you use a lot of Velcro
or buy an expensive kit.
