Greetings Ontario Birders,
The first year (of five) of data collection for the third Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas (Atlas-3) is nearing an end. The results have been impressive, and you can read about it in the latest Atlas-3 newsletter (https://www.birdsontario.org/newsletter-july-2021/).
However, we need all the data we can get to make it a successful project. If you have been birding during the breeding season and have recorded any sightings with breeding evidence in Ontario, please ensure it gets to the atlas. The annual data entry deadline is the end of August.
In particular, we know there are a lot of great data in eBird. Please consider importing your eBird checklists to the atlas. The process is simple and the steps are outlined here: www.birdsontario.org/community/ebird/moving-ebird-lists-to-nature-countshttps://www.birdsontario.org/community/ebird/moving-ebird-lists-to-nature-counts/
Remember, whether you are an assigned principal atlasser, a general atlas participant or just out birding, anyone can collect data in a square and ALL DATA ARE INCREDIBLY VALUABLE. Please consider adding your records soon.
If you haven't yet, please register for the atlas to ensure you receive communications and updates: www.birdscanada.org/birdmon/onatlas/register.jsphttps://www.birdscanada.org/birdmon/onatlas/register.jsp.
