Vuecrest Egg Hunt March 24th
Easter is early this year!
There's already big anticipation for the Saturday, March 24th Vuecrest neighborhood egg hunt which is held in the Esplanade (inside Entrance at Park Road). Festivities begin at 11 a.m. sharp with an egg hunt for the 5 and under age group. This will be followed by ages 6-10 and then 11 and up. They'll be special prizes for those who find a Golden Egg! In addition, we may have a visit from some cuddly Easter Bunnies!
Please remember that children are not required for you to enjoy the festivities. Just watching the children hunt for eggs will guarantee a smile. There will be coffee and pastries available for the adults. Make sure to put it on your calendar! We hope you'll join us!
Would you like to lend a hand and/or be involved in the Egg Hunt? Volunteers will be needed several days before to help fill the plastic eggs, as well as assistance on event day to help with table and beverage set-up. Please contact eileen.foley@gmail.commailto:social@vuecrest.net if you have some free time. Just an hour or two would make a big difference!
Annual Information Check
If you haven't updated your neighborhood contact information in a while, you may want to go to www.Vuecrest.nethttps://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vuecrest.net%2F&data=02%7C01%7C%7Cc836bb0c08b64b2bbac808d57e0af218%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636553507831700798&sdata=dRNiHKUma%2BFSLIh6Kkocv1%2FSId9Tuz02N3xeVsFGxNw%3D&reserved=0 then click on "Update Your Contact Information". Just recently, it came to my attention that the HOA only had my husband's email?! I wasn't even getting the Newsletter sent to me and I write it! We're equal opportunity here, so make sure all interested parties have current emails and phone numbers registered with the HOA. It's also important for emergency purposes. Rest assured, we don't sell or give away your information. Strictly TOP SECRET!
Neighborhood Enhancement Project (NEP) Update
Chris Bodiford continues to keep us current on the NEP. There will be a NW Bellevue neighborhood kickoff meeting mid-April. Stay tuned for more information. The NEP is a city-funded, capital improvement program that empowers residents to propose and select moderate enhancements to their neighborhoods. There is over $300K available and we are attempting to make a strong collective push to benefit the Vuecrest community. Please send your best ideas to directors@vuecrest.netmailto:directors@vuecrest.net.
How does NEP work?
Phase 1: You and your neighbors submit ideas for projects in your Neighborhood Area using Project Idea Cards.
Phase 2: The City collects the Project Idea Cards and evaluates each using the NEP screening criteria. The project ideas that meet all of the criteria will undergo a cost estimation exercise to determine if they can be executed within the budget allocation. Those that do not will be forwarded to the appropriate City department for further consideration and funding.
Phase 3: The City will host a Public Open House for you and your neighbors to review the projects ideas that meet all of the criteria and prove cost effective, as well as those that did not, and why.
Phase 4: You and your neighbors will receive a ballot in the mail with the project ideas that meet the criteria and prove cost effective. You and your neighbors will be asked to rate your top three choices, and then mail the ballot back to the City. The City will tabulate the weighted responses and announce the top scoring projects, which will be implemented.
Phase 5: You, your neighbors and the City will begin designing and constructing your NEP projects!
City of Bellevue - Neighborhood Transportation Safety Services
Concepts for the City of Bellevue Neighborhood Transportation Safety Services project for NW Bellevue will be based on community feedback and shared with the public on this Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Chinook Middle School library. You are invited to attend. The more support we get from our neighborhood, the more chance we have that the city will use our tax contributions to benefit our neighborhood.
The project centers around developing a traffic improvement strategy for the Northtowne area, along 100th Avenue Northeast, including the intersection of 100th Avenue and NE 10th, at our East entrance.
This project strategy will focus on addressing concerns about speeding and the need for safe walking and bicycling in the neighborhood and nearby schools.
Actions may include crossing treatments, signs and pavement markings, additional landscaping, and various other features to calm traffic and create a complete street that works better for all modes of travel, especially children walking to local schools. For more information, you can go to https://transportation.bellevuewa.gov/projects/neighborhood-projects/100thAveCompleteStreets/https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftransportation.bellevuewa.gov%2Fprojects%2Fneighborhood-projects%2F100thAveCompleteStreets%2F&data=02%7C01%7C%7Cc836bb0c08b64b2bbac808d57e0af218%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636553507831700798&sdata=V9k89Dzn%2BeSIFujbC9Z2uca2TscU5JYr1xfPeTevKrw%3D&reserved=0
It's Spring Tree Trimming Time!
A BIG THANK YOU to those of you who have already taken the initiative to preserve our views by doing your Spring trimming early. We love our trees and trees love the Northwest. They grow so fast that it's easy to forget how quickly they double in size and impede a neighbor's view. Please be considerate and enjoy them on a smaller scale. Our Vuecrest CC&R's protect views of the Bellevue and Seattle Skylines, Cascade and Olympic Mountains, Mount Rainier and Lake Washington.
Sumiyoshi/Continental Property Project Update
