National Coalition for Literacy Discussion List
View all threadsAs we look ahead toward the New Year 2017, Research Allies for Lifelong Learning wanted to share a few of our newest research resources with our fellow NCL members. With our best wishes for the holidays,
Margaret
Our first resource is the long-awaited second summary in the Final ALLIES Reports series. This qualitative summary shares the stories of adult learners who became leaders - their experiences, perceptions, and growth. It is written in their own words and from their own insights. Find out what it is like to be a leader in an adult education program - and what serving as a leader meant to them and to their programs. Please feel free to download and share this new summary with your colleagues and adult learners.
The second resource is a newly published forum article from Journal of Research and Practice for Adult Literacy, Secondary, and Basic Education. Margaret Patterson has written on "Research to Practice Connections" in the Winter 2016 issue of the journal, which COABE will send out very soon. This article presents recent discussions adult educators and researchers have had about how to connect research findings with practice, how to evaluate research, and how you can get involved! The journal cover below has details about the issue. If you are not already a subscriber (though we hope you are!), or your library doesn't carry the journal, please feel free to e-mail Margaret for a copy of the forum article.
