Subject: Update from OCTAE and Kim R. Ford
Dear Colleagues,

It is with mixed emotions that I write to inform you I have resigned my position as Deputy Assistant Secretary, Management and Planning, in the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE).  Secretary DeVos understands my decision and we had a great conversation about moving this important work forward.

I have enjoyed my time at the Department of Education and especially working in OCTAE where we serve 25 million students in adult education, career and technical education, correctional and re-entry education, and community colleges.  The future of America depends on the work of OCTAE and the success of the students whom we represent.  It is incredibly difficult to leave the Department and the amazing team members in OCTAE who are extremely dedicated and committed to our mission and our students.

Dr. Wooten (cc'ed) has fully transitioned into the Acting Assistant Secretary's role so there will be continuity and operations will be unaffected.  He is a proven leader and I know that the Office is in good hands.  I plan to keep in touch and support your efforts in any way I can.  Thanks for all of your support over the years and THANK YOU for the important work you do everyday!
