Fuel burn

While cruising the Diesel Duck 462-1 in the Philippines in April of this
year I made the following observations. We did not have any sails set.

One day while at the helm I conducted a test of fuel consumption at
different RPM settings. The wind was two to four knots on our starboard
beam and Victor, our Filipino captain, said the current where we were
was insignificant. The results are as follows based on SOG, RPMs and the
flow scan gauge. I would set the RPM and give the boat five minutes to
adjust before taking the numbers.

Generally we ran the boat at 1500 to 1550 RPM. Days later I

noticed 2.5 GPH readings at this RPM so current may have indeed had an
affect on the SOG, or, the flow scan may not be accurate. Anyway these
were my observations.

RPM          Knots          Fuel GPH

1250            6.6              1.9

1300            6.7              2.0
