Compo Beach- 4 Hudsonian Godwits flying west along the coast. Picked up in scope off the “cannons jetty”. They headed towards Saugatuck Shores where I was hopeful they might land, but instead kept flying west through the Norwalk Islands hugging the coast about 30 feet above the water before they disappeared.

About 5 years ago (estimating) Patrick Dugan found one Hudsonian Godwit
feeding by a puddle at Cove Island in the grass. It was easy to watch the
bird and it hung around for a day or perhaps 2 if I recall. It hasn’t
rained, but after a good rain the puddles seem to attract wading birds.
Thanks for the heads up. You still need a permit to get into CI through
Labor Day, though. Not sure they’ll let birders in without one.
