Hello Gators,
Here is some information about this Saturday's French Creek Racing "River Day" event. The key points...
- There are three events to select from... 800m (12:30pm start), 1 mile (11:30am start), and 5k (8:30am start)... They are scheduled in series so you can do one, two, or all three (like Andy Rosebrook!)
- There is a new location... Lock 60 rec area in Oaks
- There are currently 5 Gators on the list planning to participate (and I might be a late entry for 800m or 1 mi race)... Maureen, Andy, Gabriel, Chris T, Patty... I believe all are doing the 800m or 1 mi except for Andy's "Hat Trick" (or maybe in swimming it's a "Cap Trick")
Also, you may want to consider taking advantage of some of FCR's August swim options during the Y's 2+ week annual maintenance closure of the indoor lap pool (August 21-September 4).

Subject: River Day SwimFest - New Location, New Race! And more!
Hey Folks,
River Day SwimFest is quickly approaching! We'd love to have you join us as a swimmer or a kayaker! The forecast this week looks ideal - dry weather is predicted and flow rates are down a bit from earlier in the summer, so we are definitely ON for Saturday 8/5.
We have a NEW LOCATION for River Day SwimFest! We are excited to be hosting this event at the Lock 60 Recreation Area in Oaks! You can use the GPS address of 400 Towpath Rd., Oaks, PA 19453. You can park at the gravel lot on the left before you get to the lock. Please carpool if possible since parking spaces are limited. We believe this is a much better location to hold our event and we think you'll agree too.
We've also added a NEW 800 METER DISTANCE. This is great for beginners, especially since the course is less than 5' deep the entire way. The 800 meter race will be FREE to those who have already signed up for the "Combo" event, or only $15 otherwise. Swim the 5K, 1 mile, 800m, or all 3! The 5K will be 3 loops (apprx) of the 1 mile course which will head south and turn around just before the railroad bridge. Of course, we are swimming in the river, not in the canal!
If you want to upgrade, you may do so on our registration site, or contact me directly to have your event changed. Registration closes at noon on Friday. If you have any friends interested in racing, make sure to have them sign up before they run out of time!
We are also looking for a few additional lifeguards / kayakers. If you or someone you know is able to paddle for us, please have them register online, or contact me directly
Please check our registration sitehttps://www.imathlete.com/#/legacy?url=%2Fevents%2FEventOverview.aspx%3FfEID%3D64907%26z%3D1501689319624 for full details, or feel free to email us if you have additional questions. We're looking forward to hosting you on Saturday!
