Time to chase away January blahs, especially for those subscribers in
cold climes.

Here's a question for those who have cruised outside of U.S. waters:
What was your favorite destination out there, one you enjoyed most?

For me, it was when we stopped at the Batilava Surf Camp about 60nm
or so southwest of Suva, Fiji.  This was a couple years ago, on the
trans-Pacific delivery of Southern Cross II.  We spent three great
days swinging on the hook, had some wonderful "down-time" just doing
nothing, met the most warm and friendly villagers ever, and ate some
great food with a great bunch of surfing buddies that we'd never
even heard of previously!

It's going to be hard for anything ever to surpass being in Tahiti and
Bora-Bora in 1960, before the airport at Papeete was built and they started
putting in hotels.  There were maybe five boats on the quai at Papeete and
nobody else anchored at Bora-Bora.  But that was on my father's boat.  On
mine it would be Roatan, Honduras.  We stopped there in early 2001 planning
on spending two weeks and ended up there for three months.  We went back the
next winter and bought property.  This will be the first winter we haven't
had the boat there since, and only because the boat is now in the Med.
