Historical Street Signs Coming to Vuecrest
As the first modern subdivision in the Puget Sound region, the Vuecrest Community has an important place in the history of the City of Bellevue. So to celebrate our historical 1947 heritage, street sign toppers will be added to all fourteen street signs within our neighborhood.
The Vuecrest street sign toppers will be similar to the Old Bellevue Street sign toppers already in place in old Bellevue (downtown Main Street picture below). We are working to complete this project during 2022.
Vuecrest has applied for a grant through the City of Bellevue’s Neighborhood “Match” program and as a requirement of the program we must demonstrate broad community support for this project. If you have any concerns, please attend the Vuecrest monthly Board meeting coming up on March 3rd, at 6pm via Zoom or send an email to the Vuecrest Board members at directors@vuecrest.net mailto:directors@vuecrest.net. You can also voice you opinion to Theresa Cuthill, City of Bellevue at tcuthill@bellevuewa.gov mailto:tcuthill@bellevuewa.gov. Please do this on or before March 3rd, 2022 in order for us to complete our application.
Community “Right of Way” Clean up and Temporary Closure
First of all, what are the Vuecrest Right-of-Ways? Here’s the City of Bellevue’s answer...
Right-of-way generally refers to streets and other public property that's reserved for public use, including walkways, sidewalks, bikeways and horse trails. The right-of-way often extends well into what appears to be private property. The City requires a permit for any disturbance and non-disturbance activities or private use of the public right of way.
We have three right-of-ways within our community. They are between homes and offer access from one street to another. They are marked in red on the map below. From time to time these walkways need a little maintenance so they will be closed for about one month after aeration and overseeding. Sorry for the inconvenience, but they’ll be up and running again soon.
Cleaning Up Exterior Vuecrest Monument Signs
Another housekeeping item that you may notice is the cleaning and maintenance of our exterior Vuecrest signs. These are the signs on the brick entry walls designating our neighborhood. This is simply a part of the ongoing care and maintenance of Vuecrest overseen and scheduled by your HOA Directors.
Spring Forward March 13th & First Day of Spring (Equinox) March 20th
It’s been a long dreary winter, but Spring is coming John Snow. Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 2:00 A.M. On Saturday night, clocks are set forward one hour (i.e., losing one hour) to “spring forward.” Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 2:00 A.M. On Saturday night, clocks are set back one hour (i.e., gaining one hour) to “fall back.”
The March equinox or first day of Spring happens on Sunday, March 20, at 11:33 A.M. EDT. In the Northern Hemisphere, this date marks the start of the spring season. In the Southern Hemisphere, the March equinox marks the start of autumn. And for all the nerds like me...The word equinox comes from the Latin words for “equal night”—aequus (equal) and nox (night). On the equinox, the length of day and night is nearly equal in all parts of the world. With the equinox, enjoy an increasing amount of sunlight hours, with earlier dawns and later sunsets!
