Of course, it can be a good vice in some circumstances if it means pushing the boundaries of science or engineering.

No sense of cleaning the board with standard flux cleaner, EPA etc?

I have a sense that (like sculpture conservationists) we're sometimes more fussy than the original artists/designers were...

Hi Alan,

Generally, flux cleaner is designed to clean off non polar substances,
which for our purposes can be thought of as things that water wouldn't
dissolve... such as rosin, oils and greases...

Most any sort of organic salt, hydroxide, acid, ... dissolves nicely in
water, but won't dissolve in flux cleaner.
