Bill, many thanks for the hint concerning the CLIP manual. Agilent Germany simply refused to sell me this document, although I own the instrument.. Its display also shows some weakness, several dot columns are a bit darker than the others, but this improves by warming up. Is this really a defect of the driver IC, or can it be repaired by resoldering some of the pins of the IC and of the VFD? Frank
