Que Linda: Night out in Panama

I have to tell you about Monday night.  We were invited to dinner with some of
the other people here at the marina.  We drive to the canal, then we drove
back to the marina, seems we forgot some people.  It was funny, because the
van was already full.    The van has 14 seats and all but two were full.
Six more people came up the ramp from the marina.  They got into a truck and
we all made the mad dash down to the canal again.  It was about ten miles
each way and we went like a bat out of hell.  When we got to the canal the
same boat was still going thru.  We had to wait about an hour for that boat,
and another one to go thru before we finally got to go.  We had to cross the
canal, inside the canal.  Small swing bridges go across each side of the
canal.  I looked up at the lock gates holding back all that water, not even
a small leak.  We finally got to the hotel, it is a converted officers club
on another army base.  Very fancy.  For dinner we could have a buffet, or
order from the menu.  Bob and I ordered from the menu and Hal had the
buffet.  Mine was great, shrimp in  lobster sauce over noodles.  I had a
glass or two of some good draft Panamanian beer.  We spent some time outside
by the pool and then drove back to the canal.  This time we went right thru,
no waiting.  We got back to the marina about 22:00 Local.  That is about as
late as we have been up, as it gets dark here early and light about 05:30.
We also heard from the agent that we will be going thru the canal
tomorrow, Wednesday.
We still do not know the time, and I will send another email as soon as I
know.  Here is the link to watch us go thru, we will go thru the Gutan locks
first and then the Miraflories.  From the time we pick up the Pilot it
should be an hour to the first lock and then about four hours to the next.
