There are an impressive number of gulls loafing on Lake Simcoe, just offshore from the landfill and water treatment plant. Likely 1500+ birds. Many Glaucous of all ages (30+) among 1000+ Herrings, 3 Iceland, a first year Thayer’s, at least 200 Great Black-backed Gulls, and an adult Lesser Black-Backed Gull. The reason I’m posting is because there may be something else in among them. A Bald Eagle kept kicking up the birds so it was very difficult to systematically check all the birds. More of a heads up for local birders, as I just stopped briefly on my way home. I scoped for about an hour from 1:00 to 2:00pm.
The access a viewing area, take 12 E from Hwy 11. Turn S on West Street, then W on Kitchener St. You can view from Kitchener Park, or by the bridge over the small inflow creek.
Cheers
