your 4D boxes will hold two trogen 6 volt golf cart batteries with almost the amp hours of an 8-D. You will have to shim the inside of the boxes, ie with paperback books. Get at least a 100 amp alternator, and a balmar smart regulator. You will also benefit from a smart ll0 volt high output charger. If you have room for two more golf cart batteries besides your 4 in the two 4D boxes that would be worth while. Plan on using 1-2 quarts a month of distilled water for your batteries in heavy usage. Isolate your house batteries from your start batteries. However, you don't say what sort of power load she needs an inverter/battery bank to support. TVs, coffee pot, hair dryer, computer, a few 12v lights? How long do you plan to be away from shore power at a time? Also, how big are the alternators on the Volvos? Give us that information and the problem will become easier.
