Original partners were friends (and friends of friends), a brother,  and
people I worked with.  But we did advertise for additional  partners (mostly when
somebody wanted out) in Soundings and other boat  mags.  This lead to partners
from further away which  made our occasional group meetings a bit more
challenging, but not really a  problem.

Surprisingly, we never had trouble finding new members to join our  group(s).
Once a partnership is established and working, people  find it attractive.
In the long run, I'm sure I actually made out  better selling my boat in four
shares than if I'd sold it to a single  owner.  But it does take a bit of leg
work to get it going.

That's the beauty of joint  ownership, it gives you a lot of flexibility.

Henry, how did you  find the other owners, your partners in the boat?
Where they friends,  strangers, or  what?
