The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in sociology by September 1, 2009; a strong record or promise of publications; excellent teaching evaluations; potential for extramurally funded research; and a willingness to serve as department chair in the future. Candidates' research and teaching should be in one of three broad areas: immigration, transnational communities, and globalization; social inequalities and social change; and media, culture, and society. Candidates must be committed to teaching our highly motivated and diverse student body. The usual teaching load is two courses per semester. The successful applicant will be the ninth member of the department.
