Sign up and come join us on our annual Tacoma Solar
Tour. This is your chance to tour innovative green homes to see how you
can benefit from solar energy, energy efficiency, and other sustainable
technologies to help lower your monthly utility bills, reduce your carbon
footprint and do your part to help tackle rising energy prices and climate change. Explore the different systems
homeowners have installed, from solar panels for producing electricity, solar
hot water systems for heating water, or to see first hand how driving an
electric vehicle can actually save you money over a gas-powered one. Come
with your questions and see first hand how adoption of solar can be economic
and ecologic, good for your wallet and good for the planet.
The Tacoma Solar Tour (TST) is our
local contribution to the National Solar Tour, the world's largest grassroots
solar event. Nationwide, more than 160,000 participants will visit some
5,500 buildings in 3,200 communities across the U.S. In our 5th year,
the TST features over a dozen green home sites in the greater Tacoma
metropolitan area.
The 2012 TST takes place on
Saturday August 4 from 9 am - 3 pm. Meeting point is at the solarized home
of David Lee, 3614 N. 30th St., Tacoma.
The Tour will consist of two sessions, a morning and an afternoon one along
with a complementary BBQ lunch (all participants welcome but you must pre-register).
At the start point, you will be given a list of homes, their addresses and maps
should you wish to drive on your own selecting those sites you wish to
visit. Or if you want to visit all of them, then consider taking the
NWSG-sponsored vanpool and enjoy the advantages of a solar expert guide.
Registration is required if you want
to ride the vanpool or attend the BBQ Lunch.
Space is limited so please sign up early. You can register by going to
our website www.northwestsolargroup.org and sending us an email. Simply go to "Contact Us" and click on
"David Lee" and complete the short form to register. Please
indicate in the comment field how many are in your party and whether you intend
to drive on your own or vanpool. It's that easy!
We hope to see you there.
