Dolores & I live in the San Francisco Bay area and own a converted
Canadian 40' troller (Dolores E.) which we purchased in Vancouver BC and
brought down the coast in 01.  Our goal is to resume cruising in BC, SE
Alaska to include Prince William Sound, and possibly further west.  At
this point it looks like we will go up the coast in 06.

Our background is sail.  For the first 20 years we mostly raced, although
I managed to cruise the Hawaiian Islands (except the big island) in my
Cal-20.  In 91 I retired and we cruised our 36' IOR one-tonner every
summer (3 to 9 months at a time) leaving her for the winter where ever we
ended up.  These trips went from SE Alaska to Panama on the West Coast,
Panama to Newfoundland on the East Coast, across the Atlantic and 4 years
in the UK, mostly in Scotland with a trip to the Faroes and Iceland.  The
boat spent the winters in Alaska, Panama, Maine and Scotland.  I have also
done a bit of Single-handed racing.

I do most of my own work on the boat and am currently engaged in applying
a polyurethane and fabric coating (System 70) over my laid decks to stop
the drips.  I've owned a number of wood boats, but they can be a challenge
:>)  When the boat was converted the PO removed the mast and poles.
Unfortunately this also removed the paravanes which I plan to put back on.
Nothing rolls like a west coast troller.  I've followed the recent
exchange on anti-roll devices with interest on the Trawler List.
