Would you like to share your passion for Performing Arts Educations? Would you like to use your knowledge and skills to make a huge impact on local children as you act as a role model to help them achieve personal growth? As the Performing Arts Instructor, you will provide direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for program participants in performing arts classes.
If hired for this position you will work with the program director to develop lesson plans with a natural progression that relate to the abilities and ages of the classes being taught as well as reflect YMCA core values. You will participate in performances, theater camp, Y Arts Week events, and other YMCA events as assigned. You will fine-tune your skills as an instructor by teaching and demonstrating sound technical and artistic principles.
In this position, you will provide an impactful member experience by monitoring student progress in all classes and effectively communicating program information and student progress to the arts director. You will ensure high quality member-focused performing arts programs by providing leadership, instruction, and motivation for program participants.
Are you a good fit?
- You have a commitment to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- You have 5 years of formal training in performing arts or comparable experience.
- You have 1-2 years of experience as a teacher and/or teaching assistant.
- You are able to instruct beginning and intermediate level classes.
- You are excited to teach classes for ages preschool through adult.
- You have a positive attitude and previous experience with varying ages and diverse populations.
- You firmly believe that the arts should be open to everyone regardless of artistic ability, experience, or financial circumstance.
- Able and willing to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day and other online or in-person training as required.
Starting Rate: $14.49 per hour
Hours: Part time - up to 25 hours per week
