Dear Phil,
I read with great interest your comment about the Suzuki 140 HP always having problems.
I am considering purchasing a 40' power cat, displacing about 12000 Lbs, with 2 Suzuki 140.
I will appreciate getting details of the troubles you have had.
Best regards,

I took the 140 HP Suzuki's off my 25' Sea Cat and replaced these inline four bangers with the 150 HP V-6 Suzuki's. The 140s always seemed to have problems.
The 150s (BTW, the same engine is sold at 200 and 225 HP and just turn faster to get more HP) were bullet proof until I sold the boat three years later with 400 hours on each. I do believe they were giving upwards of 180 HP as the boat topped out at over 50 MPH. Not much over, but over.
Best.
Phil.

I would like to know too. I have had many suzuki's . Had a 140 on a
water taxi 30 passenger pontoon, ran it everyday and never gave a
hiccup. Have a neighbor with one on his boat that sits on the lift for
6 months at a time, and it fires right up when he comes down.
Have a DT 100 now and not in love with it. Runs solid but not the same
sense of unbreakable.
