Ocean Illumination
Were you at last year's Lantern Paddle for Species, when the mysterious illuminated salmon made their graceful way past hundreds of lanterns and paddlecraft at twilight?
Join us this year for the same ocean illumination, to the haunting live flute music of Paul Chiyokten Wagner (Saanich). We'll have aerial circus, steel pan drums, the 70-48 paddle race, food trucks, free art and science in the museum, and a direct call to protect endangered marine species before their light goes out forever. 7-10pm Friday June 10 at the Foss Waterway Seaport. FREE.  |

Plastic Trash Art

Seven stunning photos of artwork made by Alejandro Durán from plastic trash washed up on Mexico's beaches. And cascading from it, an installation of our own plastic waste, made by local artist Mary Mann and SAMi students. Gaze. Reflect. Be inspired to act. On view at Ocean Fest June 12 and beyond.  |
