DRAFT AGENDA (topics listed in no particular order -- sequence TBD)

The overall focus for the day is mutual communication about our advocacy work, ways we can reinforce one another's efforts, and messages/themes/recommendations that we share and want to promote.

A. Opening: Greeting and Introductions

Each person introduces self and states one key initiative/activity that their organization is doing/has recently done/is planning

B. Content area topics: for each of these, there will be a brief presentation followed by discussion. For each, the objective is to share information on how the topic relates to each organization's work; identify ways in which advocacy efforts can reference/include that topic; and identify the outlines of any policy recommendations that each organization might then roll into its advocacy messaging as appropriate. The actual sequence for these topics will depend on the availability of the presenters.

Topic 1: Adult schools, including adult charter schools

Brief presentation followed by discussion. We will be joined by Liza McFadden, David Rosen, and representatives from some DC-based adult charters.

Topic 2: Career/Technical Education (and Integrated Education & Training)

Brief presentation followed by discussion. We will be joined by a representative from the Ass'n for Career and Technical Education and possibly by business/industry representatives.

Topic 3: Family literacy

Brief presentation followed by discussion. We will be joined by Josh Cramer, vice president of the National Center for Families Learning, and representatives of the Goodling Institute.

C. Other topics

Topic 4: Update on USED / OCTAE initiatives and WIOA implementation. We have invited Kim Ford and Cheryl Keenan to join us.

Topic 5: The House Adult Literacy Caucus

This discussion will focus on how NCL can work with the caucus most effectively, and how our members can promote caucus membership. We may be joined by one or more Hill staffers, depending on availability.

Hi Deborah:
It's on my calendar. I am looking forward to it. Just an FYI, I will be
wearing two hats: AALPD and MAACCE. In case you had not heard, Heather
Ritchie had her baby girl, Rowan. Photo attached.
