The Pierce County Library System is seeking a local Indigenous or First Nations artist or an artist of color to work with youth ages 12-18 in two mural creation workshop sessions at the Lakewood and South Hill Libraries this summer.
We are looking for an artist who demonstrates a passion and excitement for working with youth and who can support young artists in creating murals on the theme of "A Universe of Stories" for display at the Lakewood and South Hill libraries after an unveiling celebration at the end of the summer. The artist will collaborate with librarians to plan and prepare each workshop session and work with youth participants to explore the intersections of identity, culture, storytelling and art, develop mural concepts, and realize a completed mural.
Each location will hold a four-day three-hour workshop session. We are looking for an artist who can support one or both sessions.

Wednesday, June 26 - Saturday, June 29 from noon to 3:00 pm
Session 2: South Hill Pierce County Library
