Date/time: Jan 26, 2006 12:00 local
Position at noon: 34°09' S & 067°25' E
noon to noon: 139.7 nm
Avg. speed: 6.3 kts
Course bearing: 92°T
Sea state & wx: N 20 kts, NE 11 feet, sunny periods & some cloud
Crew: Ben, Brad, & Kevin
Days: 14 days from East London
Goal: to Fremantle Australia
To go: about 2700 nm

Remarks:

We brought 1400 liters(370 US gal) of extra fuel, we normally carry 3800 lt
(1000 US gal). 55 hp Kubota has failed 4 times, 1 was Kubota's fault. Once
Sept 04 at Active pass BC with Max tide running, was a poor plug from engine
supplier that should have been soldered at install. Second was faulty
solonoid shut off 10 miles north of Barrow AK. Third was fuel lines sucking
air, my fault at 10 miles out of Cape Town. Fourth was a broken motor mount
100 miles south of Cape of Good Hope, Although this looked good to me at
installation, there was obviously too much vibration.

Only one engine no doubt increases risk.

All is going very well.

Ben, Brad, & Kevin
