Dear List,
After your boat survey, how much if any, price reduction did you get?
Is it a given that "price" will come up for discussion after the
survey?  If you offer another price after the survey is the seller
obligated to honor the first. ?  Just curious.

Your offer should have been made contingent upon an acceptable (to you)
survey. If not acceptable, you get quotes/estimates to remedy the
deficiencies noted and attempt to renegotiate the seller down commensurately
in price. Your broker should be telling you this.

AND NEVER <was I yelling?> allow the owner to suggest a repair facility.
Better off deducting an agreed amount from selling price and having it done
where you are comforable with the techs. Also, make sure your buying
contract is dated BY YOU, and it states uppon acceptance, financing and
sea-trial,  meaning you can always get out of the sale and get the FULL
refund, even if you don't like how it rides during sea-trial. Remember, the
Broker works for the seller, the surveyor (if a good one) works for you.

best of luck,

GQuarters
