Press release from Motorcats Ltd. in the U.K.:

Motorcats Ltd to exhibit new 29-foot MotorCat at Southampton Boatshow

The MotorCat 29 is the latest cruising power catamaran to be imported
into the UK by Motorcats Ltd. The design and construction of the
MotorCat 29 offers a remarkable number of features not found on any
cruising boat. Commenting on the announcement of the MotorCat 29,
Victor Aspey, the managing director said, "Every so often a boat
comes along that breaks new ground and opens up new possibilities. At
first glance the MC29 appears a fairly traditional monohull, but
closer inspection reveals the radical and clever hull design. It is a
highly efficient catamaran in disguise. The interest in this craft is
unprecedented in my 20 years in the marine industry. From the
drawings alone we completed 3 contracts and still have a list of
customers with holding deposits in the build queue"

This stable, 4 berth cruiser, with its low costs of ownership will
appeal to the first time family buyer or experienced sailor moving
into power. Fishermen will appreciate the stable platform and the
open cockpit. As with the IPC Media award nominated MotorCat 30 there
will be a range of packages for different uses. These will include
offshore, estuary, river and broads packages. An inboard option is
available using single Volvo D3 engine or Mercury 135 hp or
recommended outboard options with single or twin Yamaha 60hp giving
up to 25 knots. The catamaran hull efficiency also offers the
possibility of a diesel- electric hybrid version.

The MotorCat 29 was designed by Canadian designers, Jerry Kostanski
and Grahame Shannon. In 2000 a purpose built boatbuilding facility in
Poland was purchased to manufacture MotorCat boats. The modern
production facilities mean the costs of light weight, composite,
labour intensive, twin hull designs are becoming competitive with
their monohull counterparts.

When I pass along press releases that I cross my desk, I post them
for what they are, publicity releases from power catamaran builders,
designers, dealers and others which represent the viewpoint of those
same builders, designers, dealers and others. The discerning reader
may need to apply a grain of salt.

I post the releases for general information purposes, without any
verification or endorsement.
