TRAWLER WORLD ACQUIRED BY POWER CRUISING

World Publications has acquired the Trawler World magazine name and
concept which it will incorporate into its new title, Power Cruising,
due to be launched in February. The acquisition includes trademarks,
circulation, advertising and website assets.

"With the launch of Power Cruising, we saw an opportunity with Georgs
Kolesnikovs' Trawler World to merge his magazine into ours and gain
an advantage in the power cruising market," said Sally Helme,
publisher of Power Cruising. "Georgs is widely recognized as a leader
in the category, and that will be of great benefit."

The deal moves Kolesnikovs from owner and publisher of Trawler World
to editor-at-large of Power Cruising. His company, Trawler World
Productions, will now be known as Water World Productions.

"World Publications has the resources and the experience--with
outstanding magazines such as Cruising World--to serve the cruising
powerboat market better than anyone else," Kolesnikovs said. "I am
really pleased to be working with Sally and Pierce Hoover, the
editor. The new magazine will likely be recognized as the leading
title in the field before long."

Kolesnikovs has spent the last four decades working in newspapers and
magazines, mainly as editor or publisher, most recently as editor of
Circumnavigator. In 1996, Kolesnikovs founded the popular West Marine
Trawler Fest series and launched TrawlerWorld.com. He hosts the most
popular forum about trawlers and trawlering on the Internet, and is
editor of Trawler News, an electronic newsletter.

Power Cruising will publish two issues in 2004 before moving to a
bimonthly schedule in 2005.

In addition to Power Cruising, World Publications publishes 14 other
special-interest magazines: Boating Life, Caribbean Travel & Life,
Cruising World, Fly Fishing in Salt Waters, Garden Design,
Kiteboarding, Marlin, Sailing World, Saveur, Sport Diver, Sport
Fishing, Wake Boarding, WaterSki, and WindSurfing.

Water World Productions will focus on custom magazines, specialty
publications, and special events, and host TrawlersAndTrawlering.com,
a new site about voyaging, cruising and living aboard under power.

TRAWLER FEST SEASON STARTS IN STUART NEXT WEEK

Jack and Millie Rose, organizers of West Marine Trawler Fest, have
announced three new locations for the 2004 season.

The first is Stuart, Florida, where the first Trawler Fest of the new
season will unfold January 22-24 at Stuart Cay Marina, which happens
to be the home of Kadey-Krogen Yachts. Coincidentally, the new
location is across the road from Northside Marina, the venue for the
first Florida Trawler Fest in 1997. In ensuing years, the event moved
to Melbourne and Fort Myers.

The other two new locations are New London, Connecticut, July 15-17,
and Manitowoc, Wisconsin, August 19-21.

There are five events in all on the 2004 calendar:

-- Stuart, FL - January 22-24
-- Poulsbo, WA - June 3-5
-- New London, CT - July 15-17
-- Manitowoc, WI - August 19-21
-- Solomons, MD - Sept. 30 - Oct. 2

TRAWLER TRAINING: 5 DAYS AND 200 MILES OFFSHORE

A comprehensive cruising skills training course offering individuals
and couples first-hand experience with open-ocean cruising is being
introduced by Peter Pisciotta of SeaSkills Personal School of
Seamanship.

"More and more couples and individuals are considering cruising
lifestyles but don't know what skills they need, what boat and
equipment to select, or even if cruising is right for them,"
Pisciotta said. "This training answers those questions"

The unique, hands-on program will be conducted aboard a Cheoy Lee 61
in open ocean waters off the rugged California coast, between San
Francisco and Monterey. Students participate in all aspects of
ship-board life including standing watch, preparing meals, and
cleaning.

DEFEVER WINTER RENDEZVOUS UPCOMING

The 2004 Defever Winter Rendezvous will take place January
30-February 2 at Bahia Mar Resort and Marina in Fort Lauderdale.  The
Defever Cruisers organization has 500 members, most of whom own
Defever boats, but many own boats from other builders, some are
sailors and quite a few are boatless wannabes.
