Anti-Cat Diatribe

I'm sorry I have to bring this subject up on this forum as it really pertains
to the "PassageMaker Under Power" forum. But since they are both moderated by
the same people, I felt I needed to get some words in my defense printed
before they shut me off from both list.

That posting I made the other day about "Catamaran Motorsailer with DynaRig"
was placed on the PUP forum as well. I was summarily kicked off of that list
by the moderator Scott Bulger claiming I was posting a 'commerical message'.

In my defense I wrote a posting addressing his concerns, which he has now
failed to post.

In meantime he has posted an Anti-Cat Diatribe which I will not bother to
repeat here, but this was called to his attention by another member of that
forum. I imagine you could visit that forum should you want to review it.

I don't often contribute to these two forums as they are primarily 'power
oriented', but I've long had a great respect for the MotorSailer vessels and
the concept, both mono and multihull. This prompted me to post the info on
motorsailers in general, and my new Dynarig motorsailer in particular. I
thought a number of members might be interested in a number of the 'new
technologies' I bring up in conjuction with this design....and in fact a few
of you have found items of interest on my website.

Regrettably I faced a bias moderator at the PUP forum, and hope his influence
does not extend to this list.

I am sorry if I offended anyone on this list with my original posting, and
please let me know if you feel it was too 'commerical', and should not have
been made.

Sincerely, Brian Eiland

It is totally out of place to look for sympathy on Power Catamaran
List because you are having trouble living with the rules of another
forum.

But since they are both moderated by

You are mistaken. Scott Bulger is moderator of Passagemaking. I am
moderator here.

That posting I made the other day about "Catamaran Motorsailer with DynaRig"
was placed on the PUP forum as well. I was summarily kicked off of that list

You were NOT "kicked off that list." You were placed on moderated
status so that your posts could be monitored to ensure you don't
break the rules again.

Passagemaking Under Power List has a prohibition against against
commercial messages which yours clearly was. Obey the rule and you'll
have no problem with Scott Bulger.

I am sorry if I offended anyone on this list with my original posting, and
please let me know if you feel it was too 'commerical', and should not have
been made.

For Power Catamaran List, your post was borderline. You were clearly
pitching a concept from which you hope to profit. It sounded like
solicitation to me but, as moderator, I let it slide.

When you or anyone subscribes to Power Catamaran List at
http://lists.samurai.com/mailman/listinfo/power-catamaran, you are
told that:

<<Power Catamaran List was founded as a commercial-free forum for the personal use of private individuals. People in the marine trade who join the discussions must refrain from soliticing business or even appearing to solicit business.>>

Because the power catamaran industry is still in its infancy, I have
provided members of the trade with considerable leeway to discuss
matters related to their designs and products. Also, on the multihull
scene, designers and builders have traditionally been much more a
part of the user community than in the monohull world.

Nevertheless, open solicitation of business is prohibited here, too.
