Passage From Hong Kong to Columbia River, via Adak? Alaska

Scott Bulger will be keeping you posted on this passage.
The boat is new about 80 feet, American flag, twin diesel (1200 hp).
5000 gals of fuel.
Expect to leave in about a week.  Most likely fuel in So. Korea and
maybe at Kyoto Island. Stay away from Russia.
I will have a long piece to post IF I get back, about safety, the Nav
rules and maybe the Northern Lights.
We may not have email working, in which case the updates will be short
and the details may have to wait until we get back.

Bill Kimley at Seahorse Marine in Zuhai is going to get a list of my
suggestions, over the weekend, as I will be trying his patience in
person, as best I can. If he won't listen, I will talk to his wife
Stella. One sharp cookie, that gal. Bill is a lot taller than I am, but
Stella is about my size!!

You can pass short questions to Scott and I will try to act on them
during the trip. Expect it to take about 4-5 weeks.

I have been collecting the Coast Pilots, Sailing Directions, Notice to
Mariners and Light Lists and various updates. There is some interesting
language in the Pilot about staying away from the not marked on the
charts, Stellar Sea Lion Rookeries. Big fines, boat liable to
forfeiture, WOWWW.

By the way, since the boat belongs to the owner, I won't be using it's
name in the posts. But, there should be enough local color to make the
updates worth reading.

Did I mention that I hate long airline flights, packed in with 300 other
inmates in the modern Asylum in the Air. It's 13 hours flight time from
Seattle  to Taiwan, then 2 more to Hong Kong. Is it any wonder that
Mindlessness is on the march.

Buy a boat, go to sea, never come back! What?

Regards,
Mike

REPLY
Sounds like you will be at Seahorse at he same time as Robert Straghan is
visiting to check progress on his 462  hull #7

Robert and I are having discussion with Bill on a coupleof things, not the
least of which si whether or not there is adequate engien room ventilation
plus ventilation to the inverter (in a closet) and the battery bank is a
sealed pocket under the aft cabin sole.

I'm just wondering if any of your comments deal with the electrical system.

cheers
Arild
