I built my own...
I estimated my dingy to weigh about 350 lbs so I allowed for 500 lb...
The boat already had a substantial mast and standing rig, which I used.
The new boom is 3.5" sch 80 aluminum pipe -- 14 ft long.
I used Rule electric (both directions) winches -- rated for a maximum load of
3000 lb -- one for the boom & one for the hook.
Because the mast is raked aft, I had to instal a substantial "for-guy" -- it
is a 4X boom vang.
I installed a relay at the electric disribution panel so there would be no
danger of accedental operation as well as a 100 amp circuit breaker and ran
#2 wire.
I purchased Weaver chocks and mounted them on teak pads which I glued to the
teak aft cabin decking with 3M 5200.
I made ss hold downs and lifting sling.
The costs were apprx as follows...
Boom $790
Rigging $800
Winches $700
Chocks $800
Electrical $240
Misc $650
Total $3980 materials
Labor, about 50 hrs, was mine.
It has been very good and so far (2 years), no problems.
It takes one person about 20 minutes to launch or retrive.
