To All -

Goodness - twenty-two boats on the line. The warm evening started out with
promise, but the northwest wind just couldn't hold. Half the fleet didn't
finish the race - very disappointing. Thanks to Bob Shoemaker and Howie
Rinehart for trying their best, and to the Race Patrol of Wil Scheck & Julie
Ferolie.

John Michael's Spirit took a bullet in the spinnaker class, and Nerosh
(Osman Kurtulus) walked away from the fleet in the non-spinnaker class with
Zoom right on her heels. They looked like they were having fun. As usual -
let me know of mistakes, omissions, or errors in the data. P.S. Dan Blitzer

  • please join the Cruising Fleet and get a PHRF for your O'Day. We love
    having you race with us.

Attached are the results from Sunday, June 19th - a light air day. Well done
John & Charlie! Look for more and more racers coming out on Sundays for
informal, but just as much fun, racing with friends, families and neighbors.
Remember the mantra - Racing is just an excuse for a good sail.

Some upcoming Cruising Fleet events -

Next Wednesday night is Howie Rinehart's Pursuit Race (aka Turkey Race).
This event doesn't count towards points, but everybody has a great time.
Rumor has it, if approved, the Cruising Fleet might provide a free keg after
the race. See below.

This Friday, June 24th - dinner on the patio and then an informal Cruising
Fleet mid-season meeting at 8 pm. Topics will include how to spend our dues
(such as a keg of beer after Wednesday night racing), the potential problems
of our big non-spinnaker fleet on the starting line, and some ideas such as
outdoor Friday night movies (can you imagine Jaws being shown on the south
lawn or down on the pier on a warm summer evening? Let's do it!), and
upcoming Cruising events including fireworks this Saturday night at Bear
Mountain (June 26th),  the Guy Moulton 4th of July regatta (July 2nd and
3rd), and the Bowline overnight at Haverstraw for the fireworks on Saturday,
July 2nd. (I think I've got all those dates right.)

So mark your calendars, watch the weather forecasts and e-mails, for
Cruising Fleet happenings. And if you have a Cruising Fleet idea for an
activity, and want some company, run it up the e-mail flag pole and see who
salutes. Hey, ya never know.

See you on the water.
