I too am looking for that simple cat. I prefer some decent beam as I don't
have to trailer, but will look at the right craft. What you described
cabin wise was perfect. Any and all ideas welcome for consideration.

The U.S. Navy today awarded a contract to a Bath Iron Works-led team for the
construction of Coronado (LCS 4), the second Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) to
feature an innovative, high-speed trimaran hull. The 419 ft surface
combatant ship, equipped with open architecture-based combat systems and
computing environment developed by General Dynamics Advanced Information
Systems, will be manufactured by Austal USA in Mobile, Ala. It is scheduled
for delivery to the Navy in May 2012. Bath Iron Works is a subsidiary of
General Dynamics
(NYSE:GD).-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once the concept gains greater public acceptance and awareness, I suspect
more people will start thinking in terms of multi hulls as recrerational
vessels.

Get your facts straight. Austal in Mobile, AL will be building the second LCS Tri to be called the USS Coronado. Look it up! The USS Independence is moored there now on the Mobile river in downtown Mobile.

Although not a recreational vessel; the recent news release about Navy construction of power multi hulls is likely to create more public interest.?

Can someone who has been on both the motorcat 29 and 30 talk about the differences. They seem quite different boats - a bit unusual to have two similar sized boats from the same manufacturer - I would imagine they were designed for different purposes.
Thanks

As designer of the MC 29, and having been on board the MC30 a few times I
can comment.
The MC 30 is descended from a sailing cat and has a low profile with an open
sailboat style cockpit. The interior space is broken up and standing
headroom is found only in the hulls. However it is very fuel efficient and
offers a good ride. Only outboard power is available.
The MC29 is a newer design and was intended to be a competitor for
monohulls. It offers an interior layout similar to monohulls of the same
size, and can be fitted with twin outboards or a single central diesel.
Steering is from inside. Fuel efficiency is still at least twice as good as
most monohulls, but perhaps not quite as good as the MC30. The narrower beam
makes her legally trailerable, although she looks huge on the trailer!
